Christmas is More Fun with Kids

(and an Announcement)

December 25

(Posted January 17, 2022)

I’ve heard Christmas is more fun when you have kids. Bud and I have had our share of fun Christmas days. We spent the last Christmas before River was born climbing Mount Abraham in Vermont. Our first Christmas as a married couple we spent on the beach in Hawaii. But this first Christmas with River as a toddler, aware that it was a special day, was truly more fun. River’s first Christmas, he was only a couple months old. His first Christmas consisted of drinking milk and sleeping. But this Christmas, River was excited to wake up and find that there were no chores to do. We didn’t have to rush to have breakfast and get out the door. We three all hung out on the floor near the lit up Christmas tree, listened to music, and opened presents. River enjoyed tearing the wrapping paper one small strip at a time, then handing each strip to either Bud or me. Sometimes he’d go to hand the strip of paper to one of us, then change his mind, and hand it to the other parent. I’m not sure what his logic was, but there seemed to be a method. After opening presents, he was very eager to read his new books and play his new xylophone. Then, another surprise! Nana and Pop Pop came for breakfast! What fun! More people to share his toys with and read books to him! And if all the morning’s excitement wasn’t enough, after a nice morning nap, River got to go to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. Grandma had made special Green Soup for River and Grandpa had some fun cars for him to play with. It was a perfect day for River, and therefore, for Mom and Dad, too. So, I guess I have to agree, Christmas is more fun when you have a kid.

And I think it will only get better from here. Next Christmas, we’ll be celebrating with TWO! Baby #2 will be arriving July 2022. We are so excited!

Happy Thanksgiving!

8 December

Aly, River, and I had a memorable Thanksgiving this year. We got to see family, eat some delicious foods, and travel to and hike the Berkshires. We are thankful for so much this year, from our marriage, to our son, River, to our wonderful family, friends, and colleagues at work. There are so many blessings we have to be grateful for!

Enjoy viewing the pictures of our travels, as well as the video down below.

I’d write more, but in all honesty, there is just not a lot of time, energy, or wakefulness in me right now to do this. We are busy, busy, busy with work, home, and most importantly, raising Baby River. I’ve also been maintaining my goal of exercising at least 40 minutes a day, alternating between cardio and full-body weight training. Needless to say, I’m drained right now!

If you are taking the time to read this, thank you for your interest and support!
