VETERAN’S DAY

November 11

First, it’s clear that we all should be quite thankful to the many veterans, past and present, who keep our country and way of life protected. Thank you.

We spent this day of remembrance enjoying the beautiful autumn scenery of Fairhaven. We haven’t lived there in nine years, but that place has left a true imprint on our lives and memories. It was nice being able to bring River to a place that was the backdrop of a younger Bud and Aly.

We walked, we ate, we laughed, and we played. We had our share of struggles as well, as all parents and young kids have. For me, it always comes back to the little things: the things that really seem to matter. Embrace the ones you love. Be thankful and grateful for what you do have in this life. We love you, Baby River!

RIVER THE TODDLER

November 7

Our baby is becoming a toddler, and at times, it’s overwhelming, and at other times, it’s hilarious to watch. I realized today that although he is definitely more prone to tantrums, this part of his growing up must be significant: it’s clear that he is learning how to express his emotions, which is not an easy thing to do, even for adults. Kudos to Aly for being so good at emoting the empathy she feels for little River. I, on the other hand, find myself more laughing at River’s fickleness.

River, our little man, we love, love, love you. Thank you for making today such a fun one.

Enjoy this little video of River becoming more independent. It’s a nice snapshot of Riv’s Sunday.

NOVEMBER 5

DADA HERE. IT’S BEEN WHAT FEELS LIKE YEARS AND YEARS SINCE I’VE POSTED AN UPDATE WITH MY UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE ON LIFE AS A PARENT, HUSBAND, AND TEACHER. ALL I CAN SAY IS THIS: I FEEL BLESSED TO HAVE ALY AS MY BESTIE AND WIFE; RIVER AS MY SON; AND THE COLLEAGUES AND STUDENTS I WORK WITH ON A DAILY BASIS. IT’S BEEN A LITTLE OVER A YEAR NOW SINCE RIVER HAS BEEN IN OUR LIVES, GRACING US WITH HIS INNOCENCE, WONDER, AND CHARISMA. THE SILVEIRAS ARE HAPPY AND HEALTHY. THANK YOU FOR READING THIS AND FOR SUPPORTING US WITH YOUR KINDNESS.

BELOW ARE PICTURES DATED FROM TODAY. I AM QUITE FOND OF THESE THE MORE AND MORE I PERUSE THEM. TO SEE ALY AND RIVER CAPTURED WITH SUCH HONESTY, IN THE MIDST OF OUR FAVORITE SEASON, AND ENJOYING THE COOL AUTUMN OUTDOORS FILLS ME WITH PRIDE. I LOVE MY FAMILY.

I DID SNEAK IN A CUTE PIC OF RIVER FROM THIS MORNING. WE WERE ENGAGED IN A LITTLE CHASE AROUND OUR COMFORTABLY CRAMPED LIVING QUARTERS, WHEN RIV SUDDENLY STOPPED AND STARED AT ME. LUCKILY, MY CAMERA WAS RIGHT NEXT TO ME AT THE TIME. THE BOY HAS QUITE THE BANK OF EXPRESSIONS.
