Halloween 2023
This year for Halloween, we picked through the dress-up basket and recycled some previous year’s costumes. River dressed as Superman again, but with his Super River cape from Uncle John and Auntie Rachel. Eleanor wore River’s costume from two years ago and was a super adorable astronaut. Bud was an Ewok, wearing a knit hat we bought on Etsy long before we had kids, while I was Cat in the Hat. We got a late start, per usual in the Silveira household. First we visited our neighbors, River and Eleanor being their only trick-or-treaters. Then we drove down the street to The Village neighborhood in Mattapoisett where both kids showed no hesitation running along the sidewalk ahead of their parents in the dark. One notable moment of the evening was somehow unwittingly finding ourselves in a very scary “haunted garage.” Although it was pretty terrifying, River walked through bravely, accepting his candy reward at the end.
River Turned Three!
River is three. He loves singing and playing music, playing with rocks and sticks outside, pumpkins, hugs and kisses, being chased by his sister, reading, playing make-believe with his friend Cooper at daycare, visiting with grandparents, helping in the kitchen, listening to punk rock with his dad, and snuggling under blankets.
